Job Title: Marketing Specialist
The role of the Marketing Specialist is to increase community awareness of the organization resulting in an
increased annual campaign.
Responsibilities:
• Annually, research, develop and implement a market-driven a communications/marketing plan for
United Way
• Develop, design, write and produce all printed and digital materials
• Serve as staff liaison to the marketing committee
• Brand development and training of staff to ensure alignment with the standards set by UWW
Media
• Develop a relationship and maintain current contacts for all key media personnel
• Assist the ED with communications during a time of crisis
• Provide regular news releases to the media
Campaign
• Develop rack cards, pledge cards, online pledge cards and other materials needed for campaign
• Identify potential donors and strategically cultivate relationships
• Keep donors apprised of organizational success throughout the year
• Contact companies to organize campaigns and campaign presentations in the workplace
• Write articles for local company newsletters
Digital and Social Media
• Continuously update and maintain website
• Provide all communication through website and social media channels
• Develop a digital media and social media strategy including measurement standards indicating the
impact of the work
Special Events
• Develop, plan and implement special events not directly related to agencies
• Recruit, coordinate and recognize special event volunteers
• Utilize research-based information to determine the effectiveness of each event
• Provide photographic services including documentation of events
Perform other general duties as assigned
Normal workday is 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday
Qualifications:
1. Educational: BA/BS degree in an administrative or related field preferred; prior professional experience
may substitute for minimum education requirements
2. Experience: 3 years administrative support experience
3. Personal: Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written directions. Pleasant
personality, professional personal appearance. Self-motivated. Good verbal skills and ability to relate
to others. Team-player attitude. Attention to professional ethics and standards, sense of loyalty and
commitment to the organization’s mission, personal codes of honesty and trust, flexibility and ability to
accept and handle changes, and be efficient and effective with people and paperwork. Attention to
detail and neatness in work.
Physical Requirements/ADA:
• No unusual physical requirements. This position requires no heavy lifting, and most work is performed
in a comfortable indoor facility.
• This position will be required to assist with set-up and break-down of event promotions, be onsite for
some, if not all events
• There will be routine deadlines usually with sufficient lead time. The variance in work volume is
seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated.
• Job frequently requires sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands. It occasionally
requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
• Must have the ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
