Opelika Chamber Celebrates 2026 20 Under 40 Graduates and Opens Applications for New Class

The Opelika Chamber of Commerce proudly celebrated the graduation of the 2026 20 Under 40 class during a special ceremony held on May 12, 2026. The evening recognized 21 outstanding young professionals who have completed the Chamber’s leadership development program dedicated to cultivating the next generation of community leaders in Opelika.
The graduation ceremony featured remarks from Opelika Chamber President & CEO Ali Rauch, a keynote address from Samantha B. Copelan, District Judge of Lee County, and a recap of the class’s community service project. Graduates were officially recognized during a conferring and pinning ceremony. The evening also included the announcement that class member Michael Burton was selected by his peers to serve on the 20 Under 40 Board for the upcoming year.

During the program year, participants gained first-hand insight into the operations of city departments, local nonprofits, and major employers while building meaningful relationships with community and civic leaders. The class also completed a collaborative community service project benefiting the Lee County Youth Development Center, revitalizing the organization’s outdoor recreational space through updated basketball courts, installation of a new perimeter fence, and the unveiling of a custom mural.
The Opelika Chamber is also excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2026–2027 20 Under 40 Program. The initiative is seeking 20 outstanding individuals under the age of 40 who live in Opelika, are passionate about the community, and have a vested interest in shaping the city’s future.
The program officially runs from July 2026 through May 2027 and includes a Kick-Off Social, full-day Orientation Retreat, bi-monthly class sessions, a Winter Retreat, Graduation ceremony, and a class-led community service project designed to create a meaningful impact in Opelika.
Applicants must:
- Have an Opelika address
- Be 40 years of age or younger at the time of application
- Demonstrate a passion for the betterment of the Opelika community
The total program cost is $625, which covers all sessions, retreats, materials, and meals. A limited number of scholarships may be available for qualified applicants.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today without this program,” said Ali Rauch. “20 Under 40 opens doors, builds confidence, and connects you to the people and opportunities that shape your future—and the future of Opelika.”
Applications are open now through June 19, 2026. To apply, candidates must complete the application and submit a resume and one letter of recommendation.
